My Jewellery
At present I am living in Dubai which is a great place to be able to purchase stones and other pieces for my jewellery. Despite Dubai's rapid growth and moderization in recent years it still has a wonderful traditional Middle East Gold Souk where I love to wander (when its not too hot) in search of stones and crystals for my creations. Living in the Middle East I am also fortunate enough to be able to travel to other countries in the region and visit other Souks, for example Muscat, in Oman which is well known for its handcrafted silver and good quality stones
The silver I use is mainly from Thailand and India but I do also use Omani and sterling silver. The Thai silver is made by the Karen Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand and on my visits to Chaing Mai in Northern Thailand I have been able to visit the suppliers I now buy from over the internet. The hand crafted Karen silver is between 95 - 99% pure. A fair trade policy ensures the silversmiths of the Karen hill Tribes receive a fair price for their work and this helps to preserve the culture and livelihood of the Hill people.
The 92.5 Indian silver I mainly buy here in Dubai but I hope to get to India again soon. The pearls I use are Fresh Water Pearls and are from Thailand or China. I generally use the natural colour pearls as they can range from white, to pink /orange in colour.
The semi-precious stones I buy here in Dubai and from all over the world. I generally buy very few stones over the internet, unless I have previously bought from the supplier. I prefer to use stones that are as near to their natural state as possible, thus stones of the same type can differ in colour from each other & may have certain irregularities, inclusions, cracks or fissures. This is part of the stone's individuality & natural beauty.
I use the finest 49 strand, stainless steel, nylon coated beading wire for optimum strength & flexibility. All pieces are enhanced with silver crimp covers & wire guards assuring a high quality finish.
